Funding and financing an independent film production can be daunting and time consuming. Film investors need to know how and when they will get a return on their money in a specific format they will understand. On the other hand, movie producers are usually better at the creative aspects of independent film making and are too focused on the script, photography, talent, lighting, sets, and all the other nuances of a successful movie to start crunching numbers on ROI and Cash Flow. So, how do you close the gap and influence film investors to get your project started?
Anyone who has tried to make a film knows that funding is very challenging. At the same time, there are lots of people who would invest in a good film if they could. At Indie Film Hub, our goal is to connect investors with filmmakers so that the dreams on both sides can become a reality.
Indie Film Hub looks at investment at two levels:
Concept Level Funds – Funds are commissioned at the scripting stage, when a project report is ready
Finishing Funds - Once a film is in the can, we can provide the financial and technical resources to finish it properly.
Indie Film Hub neither represents the filmmaker nor the investor. The service we provide is simply hooking the filmmakers and investors together; all the details of the investment must be worked out between those two parties. We do screen our films, however, to make sure that they have the appropriate package before passing them on to our investors. Here is what we are looking for in an investment package:
- Target market analysis - what evidence do you have that this project will be successful in its target market?
- Cast and crew experience - lots of people want to make a movie. Why do you and your crew have the ability to pull it off?
- Investment package - what kind of a deal are you offering to the investors? This must be well-defined, including the minimum investment and what the return will be.
